Soon after people began using the new foldable phone, reports of cracked screens started to appear. A recent iFixit teardown pointed to possible causes, but it seems there may be a bigger issue that Apple is responsible for.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span>AB Kuai.Dong on X, referencing reports from China, said Apple did not focus on quality with the iPhone Duo as much as it did with earlier phones. For context, Apple designed the iPhone Duo, Samsung supplied the panel, and Foxconn in Taiwan handles the final assembly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Recently, iFixit found a hinge issue that might be causing the screens to crack. Current reports say the problem is \u201croughly similar to iFixit\u2019s analysis.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>What\u2019s more concerning is that Apple reportedly lowered its quality inspection standards to keep supply moving quickly. This doesn\u2019t mean every iPhone Duo is defective, but it does raise the chances that a faulty unit could reach customers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Despite the relaxed quality checks, Apple still can\u2019t keep up with the huge demand for the iPhone Duo. Some pre-orders have been delayed until January next year. So far, Apple has only said that \u201ca small number\u201d of units are affected by the iPhone Duo\u2019s \u201ccrackgate\u201d and that it will offer replacements.
