PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday strongly condemned the unprovoked aggression by the Afghan Taliban regime against civilian homes and Angoor Adda Bazaar in Lower South Waziristan.<\/strong><\/p>\n One person was killed and five others were injured when a mortar shell struck a house in a civilian area of Angoor Adda, South Waziristan, security sources said. Several shops were also damaged in the shelling.<\/p>\n In a statement, the Deputy Commissioner of Lower South Waziristan said the Afghan Taliban regime had opened fire on civilian houses and Angoor Adda Bazaar on the night of October 27, resulting in one civilian death and injuries to five others.<\/p>\n He added that Pakistani forces deployed along the border had responded effectively and forcefully to the attack.<\/p>\n In a statement posted on X, Governor Kundi paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces for their swift response, saying Pakistan would not tolerate attacks on its people or violations of its sovereignty.<\/p>\n \u201cKhyber Pakhtunkhwa has sacrificed thousands of lives in the fight against terrorism, and we will not allow anyone to threaten our people or undermine our security,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The governor vowed that any aggression against Pakistan would be met with unwavering resolve. He added that the armed forces had the full backing of the nation to defend every inch of the country\u2019s territory and that no hostile act would weaken Pakistan\u2019s determination to protect its sovereignty.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, security sources said the Pakistan Army responded swiftly to the shelling and destroyed several Afghan forces\u2019 checkposts during retaliatory action. They said the response was aimed at countering the aggression that had resulted in civilian casualties.<\/p>\n
