A third liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo ship from Qatar has arrived at Port Qasim in Karachi, raising hopes of temporary relief for Pakistan\u2019s strained gas supply system.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to a spokesperson, the LNG carrier \u2018Shandong Redwood\u2019 has berthed at the Engro LNG terminal at Port Qasim.<\/p>\n

The imported gas will be transferred to a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) before being fed into the national gas network.<\/p>\n

The shipments have continued from Qatar despite heightened tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global energy supplies.<\/p>\n

Three LNG cargoes from Qatar have arrived in Pakistan this month. The first shipment, carried by \u2018Al Arish\u2019, arrived on 13 October 2026, followed by \u2018Aegean\u2019 on 21 October. The latest shipment was delivered by \u2018Shandong Redwood.<\/p>\n

Separately, a vessel carrying 4,000 tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Bahrain, named Yellowstone, arrived at Port Qasim on 24 October 2026.<\/p>\n

The price of LNG imported from Qatar is linked to Brent crude oil, at 13.37 per cent of its price.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased LNG prices for October amid a shortage of the fuel in the country.<\/p>\n

Energy experts say the continued arrival of Qatari LNG shipments could provide temporary relief to Pakistan\u2019s gas supply system and help ease the expected shortfall.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
