LAHORE: Maryam Nawaz, Punjab Chief Minister, has assigned a fifteen-day task to make sure 100 PC improvement in cleanliness across the entire province.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Chief Minister deeply reviewed the performance of the Suthra Punjab program in a special meeting chaired by her. \u00a0The meeting discussed not continuing solid waste management firms due to their unsatisfactory performance. A shift to self-operation in Lahore, Dera Ghazi Khan, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad was decided in the discussion.<\/p>\n The CM directed the daily washing of main roads by showing concern regarding dust and dirt on roads in the province. She ordered the concerned authorities to take necessary measures to penalize those throwing trash in markets, fruit markets, vegetable markets, and grain markets and to charge fines for littering after cleaning operations.<\/p>\n Targets were also set to ensure adequate human resources and machinery in every district. The Chief Minister directed that villages be cleaned on alternate days. She instructed Deputy Commissioners and Assistant Commissioners to hold weekly meetings with Field Monitoring Officers (FMOs) and introduce Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate their performance.<\/p>\n Maryam Nawaz Sharif also ordered timely payment of salaries to sanitation workers in every city and locality. She sought details from all Deputy Commissioners regarding machinery required for cleanliness operations, along with a final record of savings achieved through self-operation.<\/p>\n The meeting also considered imposing fines on owners of vacant plots where garbage is found.<\/p>\n Other districts, including Deputy Commissioners of Multan, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Hafizabad, and Muzaffargarh, have presented their progress. The CM instructed DCs to confirm the machinery and equipment available in their designated districts physically.<\/p>\n After one week, a follow-up meeting about Suthra Punjab has also been scheduled in order to make the province increasingly tidy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
