KARACHI: The Sindh government has taken a significant step towards improving livestock breeds and increasing milk and meat production through the introduction of advanced breeding technology.<\/strong><\/p>\n The Sindh Livestock Department, in collaboration with Fongrow, has achieved a major milestone with the successful completion of the province\u2019s first embryo transfer experiment at the Sindh Institute of Animal Science.<\/p>\n Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah congratulated the Livestock Department on the development, describing it as an important achievement for the province\u2019s livestock sector.<\/p>\n Livestock Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani briefed the chief minister on the progress of the initiative, which aims to improve the genetic quality of local cattle breeds through modern scientific techniques.<\/p>\n Murad Ali Shah said the newly introduced technology would significantly accelerate the process of developing superior livestock breeds. He noted that a process that traditionally takes around 30 years could now be completed in just five years through advanced breeding methods.<\/p>\n The chief minister revealed that the Sindh government had placed an order for 132 embryos of the Red Sindhi and Guziara cattle breeds. In addition, private-sector farmers had placed orders for another 90 embryos, taking the total number of ordered embryos to 222.<\/p>\n He described the participation of private farmers as a clear indication of growing confidence in the initiative.<\/p>\n The chief minister said the adoption of modern breeding technology would help substantially increase milk and meat production while creating new economic opportunities for farmers and livestock breeders across Sindh.<\/p>\n He added that the initiative would focus on improving indigenous cattle breeds through scientific methods, helping preserve and enhance the genetic potential of locally developed livestock.<\/p>\n Livestock Minister Muhammad Ali Malkani said the programme would particularly focus on strengthening Sindh\u2019s indigenous Red Sindhi and Guziara breeds.<\/p>\n He added that the use of advanced breeding technology would improve livestock productivity and help increase the income of farmers associated with the sector.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
