ISLAMABAD: The federal government has issued a gazette notification granting the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) governor all powers of the provincial chief minister, with the order taking immediate effect, ARY News reported.<\/strong><\/p>\n The notification was issued following the imposition of emergency under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution in KP.<\/p>\n According to the gazette notification, the KP governor will exercise all powers vested in the chief minister of the province.<\/p>\n Emergency and Governor\u2019s Rule were imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on October 11, 2026, after President Asif Ali Zardari signed the summary.<\/p>\n The president signed the summary for imposing emergency and Governor\u2019s Rule under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution after the federal cabinet approved the move. The Prime Minister\u2019s Office had forwarded the advice to the president for the imposition of emergency.<\/p>\n Earlier, the federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, had approved the imposition of emergency and Governor\u2019s Rule in KP under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution.<\/p>\n A statement issued after the cabinet meeting said both constitutional provisions would be enforced in the province, paving the way for emergency and Governor\u2019s Rule.<\/p>\n According to the statement, the cabinet was briefed on the law and order situation and the worsening security situation in KP.<\/p>\n The cabinet reviewed the deteriorating security situation in detail and also discussed what it described as the provincial government\u2019s deliberate disengagement from the fight against terrorism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
