Munich, Germany – At least three explosions followed by sounds of gunfire were reported in a residential area of Munich on Thursday, according to German media. A fire also broke out in the building, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
Police and rescue teams quickly cordoned off the area. Authorities confirmed that one person was found dead and another injured at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased had planted explosive devices inside the building before taking his own life.
Police further stated that suspicious material was found in the suspect’s bag, raising fears of additional explosives. As a precaution, nearby schools were closed and the affected neighborhood was sealed off.
Investigations are underway to determine the motive behind the incident.
