Sony Pictures has hired veteran production executive Louie Provost as executive vp of production.
Provost is best known for his 15-plus year tenure at Walt Disney Studios, where one of the last projects he oversaw was Lilo & Stitch, the live-action remake of the studio’s animated movie and which has become the year’s biggest grossing movie, earning more than $1 billion at the global box office.
Working successfully in the family and franchise sphere, he also oversaw the $1 billion hitAladdin, the Emmy Award winningChip n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers, the fondly-regardedThe Muppets, the big-budgetMaleficentandMaleficent: Mistress of Evil, and the personalPete’s Dragon.
