ISLAMABAD — Heavy clashes erupted along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border after Afghan forces reportedly opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani positions, security sources said late Saturday night.
According to security officials, the Pakistan Army responded with full force, targeting several Afghan posts with heavy weaponry. The engagement reportedly resulted in the destruction of multiple enemy positions, including the Khurchar Fort, which officials described as a stronghold of militant elements.
“Effective retaliatory fire completely destroyed the Khurchar Fort,” said security sources, adding that Pakistan’s response to foreign and Afghan forces’ provocation remains ongoing.
Tensions remain high in the border areas, and there has been no official statement yet from Pakistan’s Foreign Office or military spokesperson.
