Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar announced that the Punjab Stadium will be upgraded to meet international standards, making it a significant addition to Pakistan’s growing portfolio of world-class sports facilities.
Presiding over a high-level meeting at the National Hockey Stadium on Monday, the minister reviewed the province’s ongoing and upcoming mega sports projects. The meeting was attended by Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Muzaffar Khan Sial, Additional Secretary Mian Usman Ali, Director Admin Abid Shaukat, and other officials from the Project Management Unit (PMU).
Khokhar shared that Pakistan’s state-of-the-art squash complex is nearing completion and will soon be open for athletes. He added that 88 new sports projects are being launched across Punjab this year, while construction is underway on 184 projects in various districts.
He emphasized that there will be no compromise on quality, stating that the Punjab Sports Department is committed to fostering a vibrant sports culture and encouraging youth participation in healthy activities — in line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab.
