LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain chaired a meeting at PSIC House to review the progress of ongoing infrastructure projects in industrial estates managed by the Faisalabad Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (FIEDMC).
FIEDMC Chairman Rana Azhar Iqbal briefed the meeting on various development initiatives.
Addressing participants, Minister Shafay Hussain announced plans to construct a world-class Community Center spanning 17 acres in the M-3 Industrial Estate, Faisalabad, designed to provide top-quality residential and recreational facilities for Chinese and other foreign investors. He added that branches of various banks would soon open within FIEDMC-managed estates to facilitate industrialists.
The minister directed FIEDMC and NESPAK officials to jointly finalize all details related to the Community Center and other key projects, instructing NESPAK to complete the design within one week.
Highlighting progress over the past two years, he noted that significant steps had been taken to enhance industrial infrastructure. The industrial estate hospital has been transferred to the Social Security Department, with doctors and medical staff now appointed.
Currently, 211 factories are operational in FIEDMC’s industrial zones, while around 200 industrial units remain under construction. He reaffirmed that under government policy, plots of investors who fail to establish units within two years are being cancelled — a measure aimed at ensuring 100% colonization of industrial estates, which remains a top government priority.
The minister emphasized transparency, efficiency, and quality in all development works, warning that there would be no compromise on standards.
Referring to his recent visit to China, Shafay Hussain said he met with representatives of over 18 Chinese companies, many of which expressed strong interest in investing in Punjab’s industrial sector, helping generate new employment opportunities in the province.
During the briefing, it was also reported that the boundary wall of the Faisalabad Industrial Estate has been completed. The meeting was attended by Chairman FIEDMC Rana Azhar Iqbal, CEO FIEDMC Mian Jamil Ahmad, GM Engineering Col. Adil, and officials from NESPAK.
