LAHORE, Pakistan, Nov 6, 2025: The Blood Donors Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore, in collaboration with the City Traffic Police Lahore (CTPL), organized a seminar titled “Traffic Awareness: Promoting Road Safety and Responsible Citizenship” at the university’s City Campus.
Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, presided over the event, while Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Maqsood Ahmed Lone attended as the Guest of Honour. Other notable participants included Prof Dr Rana Muhammad Ayyub, Dean of Life Sciences and Business Management, Prof Dr Yasin Tipu, Senior Tutor, Mr Faisal Khan, Education Officer (CTPL), and Dr Muhammad Asad Ali, Director Students’ Affairs, along with a large number of students and faculty members.
During the seminar, Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani also chaired an oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected office-bearers of the UVAS Blood Donors Society and appreciated their contribution to community welfare.
Addressing the participants, SSP Maqsood Ahmed Lone said the core objective of the Lahore Traffic Police is to protect citizens from accidents through adherence to traffic regulations. He urged people to wear helmets, avoid over-speeding, and follow road safety measures, emphasizing that “no campaign can succeed without active student participation.” He appealed to the youth to support the City Traffic Police in promoting a culture of safe driving.
Earlier, Education Officer Faisal Khan briefed students on key traffic rules, the importance of vehicle maintenance, lane discipline, and the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs. He also discussed safe road-crossing methods and pedestrian awareness.
On the occasion, the City Traffic Police brought a “Pink Van” to the UVAS campus to facilitate female students and staff in obtaining and renewing driving licenses and taking driving tests—an initiative aimed at empowering women through accessible public services.
