PESHAWAR: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has extended invitations to all major political parties, including Jamaat-e-Islami, to participate in a peace jirga scheduled for November 12, aimed at restoring and sustaining peace in the province.
A PTI delegation comprising Provincial Minister Aftab Alam, former Minister Kamran Bangash, Irfan Saleem, and Sher Ali Arbab visited the Jamaat-e-Islami Secretariat to formally invite the party’s leadership to the jirga.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister Sher Ali Arbab said that all political forces must unite for the cause of peace. “We want every political party to come forward and speak for peace, as peace ensures stability and economic prosperity,” he stated.
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Inayatullah confirmed the invitation, saying the party welcomes the peace initiative. “The Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has also extended the invitation. Our coordination committee will decide participation, but we support dialogue and reject opposition for the sake of opposition,” he added.
Meanwhile, Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati contacted PTI Parliamentarians’ General Secretary Malik Habib Noor Orakzai, inviting his faction to take part in the peace jirga. Both leaders discussed the province’s security situation, public welfare, and measures for lasting peace.
The PTI delegation also visited the Qaumi Watan Party’s (QWP) provincial headquarters, Watan Kor, where they handed over an invitation to Provincial Chairman Sikandar Khan Sherpao to attend the jirga.
The peace jirga aims to bring together all political stakeholders to develop a united front for maintaining law and order and ensuring social harmony across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
