The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has accelerated its enforcement campaign against tax defaulters, conducting inspections across major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Multan and Bhakkar.
Inspection teams reviewed sales records of prominent fast-food chains, cafés, marriage halls and marquees. During the operation, records of 20 business operators were seized for alleged tax misappropriation and failure to comply with the mandatory e-IMS digital invoicing system.
According to the PRA spokesperson, strict action is being taken against businesses that collected tax from customers but failed to deposit it into the government treasury. Heavy financial penalties will be imposed on those found concealing actual sales volumes once the seized data is fully verified.
The spokesperson added that revenue collection has already shown a notable increase compared to the same period last year, reflecting improved monitoring and enforcement efforts. He stressed that withholding or hiding taxes collected from the public is a violation of national interest.
Special enforcement teams have been deployed to ensure proper business registration and complete compliance with the e-IMS system across the province.
