Khanewal, PakistanM.Shahzad : In line with the safety vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the provincial traffic authorities have intensified preparations to reduce road accidents during the upcoming sugarcane crushing season—an annual period known for heavy vehicle movement and increased fog-related risks.
Under directives issued by DIG Traffic Punjab, Waqas Nazir, and special instructions from District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal, Ismail ur Rehman Khark, DSP Traffic Mazhar Islam conducted an inspection visit to review on-ground readiness. The visit focused on ensuring public safety amid seasonal smog and fog conditions that often contribute to road mishaps.
During a detailed meeting with sugar mill administration representative Noor-ul-Ameen, DSP Mazhar Islam emphasized the critical nature of the crushing season. He confirmed that driver briefings will be organized soon, and strict safety protocols will be implemented.
Authorities announced that all sugarcane-loaded trolleys will be required to install Chinese lights and reflective stickers to enhance visibility during nighttime and low-visibility conditions. The District Traffic Police will oversee the installation and ensure compliance.
Officials reaffirmed that the Khanewal District Traffic Police is working round-the-clock to guarantee safer travel for the public throughout the season.
