LAHORE — Lahore Police on Friday marked the 20th martyrdom anniversary of Constable Asghar Ali with a solemn tribute, reaffirming the force’s enduring commitment to honouring those who fell in the line of duty.
A police contingent visited the martyr’s grave, offered a ceremonial salute, laid a floral wreath and recited Fateha. Family members of the fallen constable were also present at the ceremony.
Constable Asghar Ali was killed on November 21, 2005, after coming under fire from criminal elements during routine patrol duty.
In a statement issued on Friday, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said that 343 personnel of Lahore Police have laid down their lives for the security of the nation, underscoring a legacy of courage and sacrifice within the force.
He said every officer and constable remains “imbued with the spirit of sacrifice and martyrdom,” adding that the department continues to prioritise the welfare of the families of fallen personnel.
The CCPO noted that the police department is ensuring exemplary support for the children of martyrs, including in education, health and other essential matters.
