LAHORE: Expert coaches continued to impart modern training to Punjab athletes at multiple training camps being organised at various state-of-the-art sports venues of Nishtar Park Sports Complex on Thursday.
Punjab Sports Department is conducting the training camps for the preparation of upcoming 35th National Games which are scheduled to be organised at Karachi from December 6 to 13.
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry visited weightlifting, kabaddi, hockey, archery, boxing and judo training camps to inspect athletes’ training process. Talking on this occasion, Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry said that a 20-member team of physiotherapists is also performing its duties to tackle any injury situation during training camps. “Top class training is being given to the players in the training camps under the supervision of qualified coaches. Punjab’s male and female athletes will participate in the National Games with full preparation”.
Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry said that best facilities are being provided to all participating players in the training camps. “We are quite upbeat that Punjab athletes will clinch plenty of medals through their excellent performances in the National Games”.
Dozens of athletes participated in the swimming training camp at Punjab International Swimming Complex where senior coach Rafi-uz-Zaman conducted competitions among the players to assess their fitness and stamina.
Similarly, in the kabaddi camp, the expert coaches taught the players vital techniques to win a point during a competitive kabaddi match. In this regar, an exhibition kabaddi match was also played between the kabaddi camp probables. The wushu training camp was organized at Elite Training Centre where, besides routine training, the male and female athletes were indulged in physical training session and practice competitions to improve their match fitness. Likewise, Punjab’s expert coaches also conducted training camps of judo, weightlifting and archery for the preparation of National Games.
