ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb announced that Pakistan has successfully reached a staff-level agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He also confirmed that a meeting on the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award will be held next week.
Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said the government is committed to structural reforms and is steadily progressing in implementing them.
Aurangzeb highlighted the importance of climate financing and noted improvements in the manufacturing sector. He added that maintaining the momentum of economic recovery is essential.
The finance minister said Pakistan’s exports have increased by five percent overall. He also pointed out that the IT sector is showing consistent monthly improvement, remittances are rising, and the government is actively encouraging private-sector participation.
Aurangzeb stressed that a stable current account and balanced payments are key to achieving sustainable economic growth.
