Lahore: The Punjab government has granted permission to celebrate the traditional Basant festival, marking an official revival of the event after several years of restrictions.
According to government sources, Basant will be celebrated on February 6, 7 and 8 across the province. Authorities have emphasized that strict regulations will be enforced to ensure public safety.
Officials said that kite manufacturers and sellers will be required to use QR-coded kites and string, enabling monitoring and compliance with safety standards. The use of metallic or hazardous kite string will strictly be prohibited.
The government has also made it clear that aerial firing, dangerous stunts, and public disorder will not be allowed during the festivities, and violators will face legal action.
