LAHORE: Punjab delivered an exceptional performance at the 35th National Games, concluding the mega sporting event in Karachi with a total of 126 medals, including 16 gold, 38 silver, and 72 bronze, officials confirmed on Saturday.
With this impressive tally, Punjab secured the top position among all provinces, outperforming several major departments, including the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Police, and Railways, in the overall medals standings.
Provincial Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar congratulated Punjab’s athletes, coaches, and officials for what he described as a “marvelous medal-winning performance” at the national event, which was held in Karachi from December 6 to 13, 2025.
The minister said that the Punjab contingent demonstrated remarkable discipline and skill under the leadership of Director General Sports and Youth Affairs Punjab, Khizar Afzaal Chaudhry. He attributed the success to rigorous preparation and professional coaching during 12-day training camps organized at the Nishtar Park Sports Complex prior to the Games.
Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar further noted that several athletes who benefited from scholarships under the Punjab Sports Endowment Fund also secured medals in their respective disciplines, reflecting the positive impact of sustained investment in sports development.
“The excellent performance of Punjab in the 35th National Games is a source of pride for the entire nation,” the minister said, adding that both male and female athletes from the province displayed exceptional talent throughout the competition.
He reaffirmed the Punjab government’s commitment to providing modern facilities and advanced training opportunities for athletes, stating that the outstanding results validate the effectiveness and direction of the provincial sports policy.
