LAHORE: The Punjab Government is stepping up efforts to preserve and modernize sacred sites across the province, with a renewed focus on faith, heritage, and historical preservation.
In line with this initiative, Secretary and Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab, Dr. Ehsan Bhutta, visited the Shrine of Hazrat Mian Meer (RA) and its adjoining properties to review management, cleanliness, and rehabilitation measures. The visit reflects the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, who has emphasized revamping spiritual places while preserving their sanctity and historical significance. Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Zaman Khan is coordinating closely with the Auqaf Department to ensure provision of necessary funds for these initiatives.
During the visit, Dr. Bhutta inspected the mosque, library, and graveyard within the shrine complex and issued directives to improve management, maintenance, and overall upkeep. Director Projects Auqaf, Rafiq Noor Watoo, and other senior officers accompanied him to review ongoing arrangements and assist in implementation.
Dr. Bhutta also offered Fateha at the grave of former Chief Secretary Abdullah Sumbal, paying tribute to his services and dedication to public welfare. He later visited the Quran Board, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness to ensure the facility is fully functional for visitors and students. The auditorium of the Quran Board was also inspected, with instructions issued for rehabilitation and maintenance to support educational and religious activities.
The visit underscores the Auqaf Department’s ongoing commitment to maintaining the sanctity, cleanliness, and effective utilization of shrines and associated facilities throughout Punjab.
