Riyadh — Saudi Arabia has conferred its highest civil honor, the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence (First Class), on Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir in recognition of his contributions toward peace, security cooperation, and the strengthening of bilateral relations.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the award was bestowed on the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The medal was formally presented by Saudi Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman during a ceremony in Riyadh.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Prince Khalid bin Salman said the honor was awarded in appreciation of Field Marshal Asim Munir’s significant role in enhancing defense cooperation and promoting long-standing Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Saudi Ministry of Defense headquarters, Field Marshal Asim Munir was warmly received by Prince Khalid bin Salman, who congratulated him on assuming command of Pakistan’s armed forces. The two sides also held discussions on regional security, defense collaboration, and matters of mutual interest.
Observers view the award as a reflection of the deep-rooted strategic partnership and close defense ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, underscoring their shared commitment to regional stability and peace.
