Lahore Police have intensified enforcement of the Punjab Tenancy Act across the provincial capital, arresting 2,722 individuals and registering 1,785 cases so far this year for violations of the law, officials said.
According to a police spokesperson, the crackdown is part of the “Safe Lahore” initiative aimed at strengthening internal security and improving monitoring of residential properties.
Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said verification of tenant information submitted under the Tenancy Act is being carried out on a continuous basis to ensure effective oversight. He said proper registration of tenants is crucial for the timely identification of individuals with criminal records, helping law enforcement prevent crime.
The CCPO urged homeowners, tenants, property dealers and other stakeholders to strictly comply with the legal requirements of the Tenancy Act, warning that swift legal action would be taken against those found in violation.
Appealing to the public, CCPO Kamyana called for responsible civic behaviour and stressed the importance of timely tenant registration through the official police tenant registration system to help maintain law and order in Lahore.
