LAHORE: The Punjab Police has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of families of fallen officers, with authorities providing a residential house worth Rs135 million to the family of a martyred police constable, officials said on Monday.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the house was allocated to the family of Constable Muhammad Ahmad in a private housing society in Rahim Yar Khan, in line with the family’s preference. Funds for the property were released by the Punjab government following special efforts by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar.
Constable Muhammad Ahmad was martyred in 2024 after coming under fire from dacoits during an operation in the Kacha area. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
Paying tribute to the fallen officer, IGP Dr. Usman Anwar said Constable Ahmad embraced martyrdom while performing his duty with courage and selflessness. He added that the Punjab Police would never forget the sacrifices of its personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
Dr. Anwar further stated that Punjab Police carries the legacy of more than 1,700 martyrs and that ensuring the welfare and well-being of their families remains a top institutional priority.
