PRA Launches Crackdown on Beauty Parlors, Aesthetic Clinics, Marquees, and Restaurants in Lahore

LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has intensified enforcement operations against tax defaulters and businesses involved in sales record irregularities in Lahore and Sheikhupura, officials said on Wednesday.
According to a PRA spokesperson, inspection teams conducted checks at beauty parlors, aesthetic clinics, marquees, and restaurants as part of the ongoing crackdown. During the operation, eight aesthetic clinics located in upscale areas of Lahore were inspected and their business records were seized. In addition, records of two marquees and four fast-food outlets were examined.
The spokesperson said action was taken against establishments found guilty of non-utilization of the Electronic Invoice Management System (EIMS) and discrepancies in declared sales data. Failure to pay due taxes on the provision of taxable services constitutes a punishable offense under existing laws, the spokesperson added.
The Punjab Revenue Authority also urged consumers to obtain an electronic bill after every transaction. Officials said e-bills can be easily verified through the PRA Facilitation App, which helps ensure transparency and discourages tax evasion.
