LAHORE: The Deputy Commissioner Lahore has constituted Quick Response Teams (QRTs) across the city in preparation for the Basant Festival 2026, aimed at ensuring public safety and handling emergencies.
According to official notifications, QRTs will be deployed in each tehsil, with Assistant Commissioners appointed as heads and conveners of the teams. The teams comprise representatives from Rescue 1122, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Lahore Development Authority (LDA), Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA), and the police.
Authorities have imposed a complete ban on kite flying from the rooftops of dangerous and dilapidated buildings. The district administration has directed inspections of all identified unsafe structures and instructed that fitness certificates be completed by February 2.
Officials said affidavits will be obtained from owners of dilapidated buildings, warning that strict legal action will be taken in case of violations. The Deputy Commissioner’s office said the measures are part of broader efforts to prevent any untoward incidents during the Basant celebrations.
