LAHORE: Under the directives of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police maintained heightened security during Christian worship and prayer programs held in churches across the province, including Lahore.
Earlier, the IG Punjab instructed all RPOs and DPOs to strengthen security at churches. Supervisory officers were directed to personally inspect security arrangements at churches and other important locations. Additional police forces, snipers, and special units including the Dolphin Squad, PRU, and Elite Force were deployed to ensure effective patrolling and rapid response.
The IG emphasized that all deployed personnel must remain vigilant and closely monitor any suspicious activities. Search and sweep operations were conducted around churches, Christian residential areas, and other sensitive locations to maintain law and order.
Dr. Usman Anwar also highlighted the role of religious scholars, the Christian community, and peace committee members in promoting interfaith harmony and fostering peace throughout Punjab.
