THARPARKAR: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (OIC-COMSTECH), in collaboration with the University of Modern Sciences (UMS), Tando Muhammad Khan, successfully concluded a two-day Free Medical Camp in Chachro, Tharparkar, providing healthcare services and humanitarian assistance to the local population of this remote region.
The camp witnessed an overwhelming turnout, with 2,162 patients treated on the first day and 3,550 on the second, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 5,712. The strong response highlighted the trust of the local community and the importance of such humanitarian initiatives.
A team of specialist doctors from various disciplines including ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, cardiology, gastroenterology, gynaecology, general surgery, and general medicine provided free consultations, treatment, and diagnostic services. During the camp, two successful deliveries were conducted, emphasizing the focus on maternal and child health.
In addition to medical services, mineral water, juices, clothes, shoes, and other essential items were distributed to patients and their attendants, providing further relief to underserved families.
The camp was organized in collaboration with Gourmet Foods, District Administration Tharparkar, and the District Health Department, Government of Sindh, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Coordinator General OIC-COMSTECH, who prioritized Chachro as a key area for improving healthcare access.
At the closing session, COMSTECH officials handed over extra medicines to the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital, Chachro, to support local facilities and ensure continuity of care. District officials and community members commended the initiative, calling it a vital step toward reducing healthcare disparities in remote areas.
