Quetta, February 2, 2026 — Mobile internet (mobile data / 3G/4G) services in Quetta and several other districts of Balochistan remained completely suspended for the third consecutive day on Monday, causing widespread disruption to daily life, education, business, and communication.
The suspension began on Saturday (January 31, 2026) following a series of coordinated militant attacks across the province, including in the provincial capital Quetta. Services are still down in Quetta, Mastung, Kalat, Khuzdar, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, and other areas.
Impact on the public
Business owners are unable to process online transactions, receive payments, or manage digital operations.
Students cannot access online classes, submit assignments, or study digitally.
Ordinary citizens face difficulties in banking, contacting family, using ride-hailing apps, or accessing essential online services.
Commercial activity, e-commerce, and daily digital communication have been severely affected.
Balochistan’s Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Hamza Shafqaat, told Dawn that the mobile internet suspension will continue today due to ongoing security concerns, but restoration is expected tomorrow (Tuesday, February 3).
This measure is part of heightened security arrangements following recent terrorist incidents and large-scale counter-operations in which Pakistani forces reportedly killed a significant number of militants.
Train services also halted
Train operations remain suspended for the third day:
Jaffar Express (Quetta to Peshawar) did not depart today.
Passenger trains to Chaman and other routes are also cancelled.
Railway authorities have cited security reasons and assured full refunds to affected passengers.
Residents have urged the authorities to restore internet and transport services as soon as possible to minimize further hardship to the public and economy.
