LAHORE, Pakistan — Pakistan’s Auqaf Department has launched daily spiritual lectures at one of the country’s most revered Sufi shrines to promote Islamic teachings and moral guidance among devotees.
Secretary and Chief Administrator of Auqaf Punjab Dr. Ehsan Bhutta announced the initiative on the eve of Shab-e-Barat, saying the “Kashf-ul-Mahjoob Lectures” have begun at the shrine of Hazrat Makhdoom Syed Ali Hajveri, popularly known as Data Ganj Bakhsh.
The lectures are based on Kashf-ul-Mahjoob, a classic Sufi text emphasizing love, tolerance, spiritual purification, patience, and social harmony.
Dr. Bhutta said the initiative was launched in accordance with the vision of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar and under special direction from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
“This spiritually significant initiative has been launched with the objective of promoting true Islamic teachings, Sufi values and moral guidance among the public,” Dr. Bhutta told Auqaf Department officers.
He said the program aims to provide authentic religious and ethical guidance to devotees while preserving the shrine’s sanctity and spiritual environment.
The initiative has been warmly received by devotees and the general public, who have termed it a positive and constructive step, Dr. Bhutta said.
“Such programs not only enhance the spiritual experience of devotees but also contribute significantly to the positive image-building of the Auqaf Department and the Shrine of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh,” he added.
Additional Secretary Nabeela Javaid, Director General Auqaf Shahid Hassan Kalyani, Data Darbar Administrator Muhammad Ali Khan, and other senior officers attended the announcement.
Dr. Bhutta said the Auqaf Department will continue introducing similar spiritual and reformative initiatives to promote religious harmony, spiritual awareness, and social cohesion in line with Sufi teachings.
Data Darbar in Lahore is one of South Asia’s most visited Sufi shrines, attracting thousands of devotees daily from across Pakistan and abroad.
