LOS ANGELES — FIFA is accepting applications for volunteers to take part in the upcoming World Cup in 2026, including at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
The international soccer federation aims to hire around 65,000 volunteers across three countries — the U.S., Mexico, and Canada — in what officials describe as the largest volunteer program for a FIFA event to date.
“Volunteers are the heart, soul and smile of FIFA tournaments,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a news release. “They get to show off their local pride, gain a behind-the-scenes view of the tournament and make memories and friendships that can last a lifetime, while supporting a historic event. We hope interested individuals will join us as we welcome the world to North America in 2026.”
FIFA officials stated volunteers will provide assistance in 23 different operational areas, including both official and unofficial locations, such as stadiums, training grounds, airports, and hotels.
FIFA awarded a joint bid from the U.S., Canada and Mexico to host the 2026 World Cup in 2018. The “United bid” prevailed over Morocco in the vote, making it the first time three countries will jointly host the world’s premier soccer tournament.
North America, specifically the U.S., last hosted the World Cup in 1994.
The newly expanded 48-team World Cup competition will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, across the three North American countries with games being played in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada; Guadalajara, Monterrey City and Mexico City, Mexico; and Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Seattle and San Francisco in the U.S.
FIFA officials said that no prior volunteering experience is required.
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older when applying, be authorized to volunteer in the host country, and demonstrate proficiency in the English language, officials said. In Mexico, English and Spanish are desirable; in Canada, French is considered an asset.
Proficiency in any additional languages is a plus as we look to welcome the global community.

The chosen volunteers will be invited to attend the Volunteer Team Tryouts, which are expected to begin in October 2025, with training to follow in March 2026. Other volunteer perks include receiving an official volunteer uniform, meals and refreshments during your shift and other rewards.
