Islamabad, February 8, 2026 — Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has reiterated his party’s commitment to the country’s stability and integrity, strongly rejecting any perception that PTI supports actions detrimental to Pakistan.
In a statement issued today, Barrister Gohar said:
“We are the well-wishers of Pakistan. We do not want any harm to come to the country. In every conspiracy against Pakistan, we stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the nation.”
The remarks come amid heightened political polarization and ongoing security challenges in the country. Barrister Gohar’s statement appears aimed at countering frequent accusations from ruling coalition figures and sections of the media that PTI’s protests, rhetoric or alleged foreign links somehow undermine national interests or security institutions.
Separately, PTI leader Junaid Akbar (former MNA and prominent voice from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) also addressed the issue of terrorism in a public statement, saying:
“We condemn terrorism in the strongest terms and stand firmly with the institutions.”
Junaid Akbar’s comment is significant as it comes at a time when Pakistan is facing a sharp rise in militant attacks, particularly those claimed by the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and when political parties are frequently pressed to clarify their stance on national security and the armed forces.
Both statements reflect PTI’s attempt to project a unified position: strong opposition to the present federal government while simultaneously emphasizing patriotism, condemnation of terrorism, and support for state institutions — a messaging strategy the party has increasingly adopted in recent months to broaden its appeal and deflect criticism.
The party leadership has repeatedly stated that its struggle is political in nature and directed against alleged unconstitutional actions and economic mismanagement, not against the state or its security apparatus.
