Dhaka, February 12, 2026 — In Bangladesh’s 13th Jatiya Sangsad (parliamentary) elections, unofficial and partial results show Hasnat Abdullah, Chief Organiser (Southern Region) of the National Citizen Party (NCP) and candidate of the 11-party alliance, commanding a significant lead in the Comilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency.
Early counts from four polling centres placed him ahead. At his hometown Gopal Nagar polling station, Hasnat secured 3,084 votes, while his rival, Md A Jasim Uddin (truck symbol, Gono Odhikar Parishad, backed by BNP), received zero votes. In Municipal Ward 7, Hasnat garnered 1,383 votes against Jasim’s 480.
Combined results from four centres (Gopal Nagar, Nabipur, Maheshpur, and municipal) gave Hasnat 7,892 votes to Jasim’s 818.
Jasim Uddin announced a boycott of the polls late in the voting process, alleging widespread rigging, ballot snatching, and intimidation.
As counting progressed, Hasnat (Shapla Kali symbol) maintained a commanding lead—often three times more votes—in multiple centres. Latest unofficial tallies from 116 centres indicate Hasnat has secured around 172,000 votes, positioning him for a landslide victory and marking a major win for the NCP in this post-2024 political landscape.
These are Bangladesh’s first major general elections since the 2024 student-led uprising ousted Sheikh Hasina. Polling ran from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with official results expected from the Election Commission on Friday, February 13. The contest features the BNP, the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance, and other parties amid hopes for democratic stability.
