Islamabad, February 12, 2026 — Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi confirmed during the weekly press briefing that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the first meeting of the Board of Peace (BoP), chaired by U.S. President Donald Trump. The inaugural session is scheduled for February 19, 2026, in Washington, D.C., focusing on Gaza’s post-ceasefire stabilization, reconstruction, and broader global conflict resolution.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will accompany the prime minister. Andrabi emphasized Pakistan’s participation “in good faith” as part of a collective voice from eight Muslim-majority and Arab countries. Pakistan remains committed to a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders and UN resolutions.
The prime minister’s U.S. visit is expected to begin around February 18, with a possible bilateral meeting with President Trump on the sidelines. Launched by Trump in late January 2026, the BoP — initially proposed for Gaza governance under a U.S.-brokered ceasefire — has expanded to address wider conflicts. Over 20 countries have joined, though some express concerns it may sideline the United Nations.
This engagement underscores Pakistan’s proactive diplomacy on the Palestinian issue and regional peace efforts.
