LAHORE, Pakistan: The Human Resources Committee of the Board of Directors of the Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has approved a proposal to regularise more than 1,000 workers and forwarded the matter to the Board for final approval, officials said.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by HR Committee Chairman Javed Anwar Mughal. Participants included former Member of the National Assembly Malik Shakeel Awan, RWMC Secretary Muhammad Farooq, Chief Financial Officer Bilal Khawar, Municipal Labour Union Chairman Changez Bhatti, and other officials.
Following detailed deliberations, the committee endorsed the proposal and referred it to the Board of Directors for final consideration.
Speaking after the meeting, Mughal said the move aligns with the provincial government’s directives aimed at improving workers’ welfare. He added that approval had also been granted for honoraria already paid to employees.
Malik Shakeel Awan said measures were being implemented to improve conditions for sanitation workers, describing the initiative as part of broader labour-focused policies.
Municipal Labour Union Chairman Changez Bhatti welcomed the development, stating that regularisation would provide greater job security and boost morale among workers.
The proposal, if approved by the Board, is expected to formalise the employment status of more than 1,000 sanitation workers, potentially strengthening workforce stability within the company.
