LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) said it seized 71 kilograms of hashish and arrested a suspected trafficker during an intelligence-based operation in Lahore.
According to a CNF statement, the operation was carried out near the Sheikhupura Interchange after authorities received actionable intelligence about the movement of narcotics. Officials set up a checkpoint and intercepted a loader van suspected of transporting drugs.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of the contraband, which authorities described as high-grade hashish concealed inside the van.
The CNF said the seized drugs are believed to be linked to an organized supply network. The arrested suspect is currently under investigation, and authorities are expanding the probe to identify and apprehend other individuals allegedly involved in the trafficking chain.
A spokesperson for the force said intelligence-led operations against narcotics trafficking are ongoing across the province as part of broader efforts to curb drug distribution and substance abuse.
Punjab authorities have in recent years intensified anti-narcotics enforcement measures amid concerns over drug trafficking and its impact on youth.
