LAHORE — On the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the Faisal Chowk tragedy on Mall Road, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem visited the residence of martyred DIG Captain (R) Syed Ahmad Mubeen and met his mother. The IG offered Fateha and special prayers for the eternal peace and elevation of ranks of the martyr.
Paying tribute, Abdul Kareem described DIG Captain Mubeen as an outstanding human being and a highly professional officer. He said that his services to the nation and Punjab Police will always be remembered, and that the sacrifices of all police martyrs who gave their lives in the line of duty remain unforgettable.
Martyrs’ Day at Charing Cross serves as a day to renew the pledge to honor the brave personnel of Punjab Police. On this day in 2017, DIG Syed Ahmad Mubeen, SSP Zahid Mahmood Gondal, and seven other police officers and personnel attained martyrdom in the tragic incident.
The spokesperson for Punjab Police stated that ASI Muhammad Ameen, Head Constable Asmat Ullah, and Constables Muhammad Aslam, Irfan Mehmood, and Nadeem Tanveer also embraced martyrdom in the Faisal Chowk attack.
The IG Punjab added that the legacy of more than 1,700 martyrs is preserved by Punjab Police, which continues to stand as a “wall of lead” against terrorists and criminal elements. He further emphasized that the welfare and care of police martyrs’ families remain the top priority of the force.
