ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a Rs38 billion Ramadan Relief Package, under which deserving families will receive Rs13,000 each.
Addressing the launch ceremony of the Ramadan Relief Package, the Prime Minister said that last year Rs20 billion were allocated, while this year the amount has been increased to Rs38 billion.
The Secretary of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) briefed the Prime Minister, stating that deserving families will receive Rs13,000 under this year’s Ramadan package, compared to Rs5,000 in 2025.
The Secretary explained that the package aims to provide dignified relief to deserving individuals, and the funds will be distributed directly through banks to ensure transparency.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the amount will be distributed across all four provinces and Azad Kashmir through a transparent digital system, ensuring that funds reach the deserving families directly.
The PM noted that a permanent ministerial committee will oversee all phases of the Ramadan package implementation, adding that he is personally monitoring the system to ensure transparent and efficient distribution.
The initiative builds on last year’s digital distribution model, which successfully provided relief to millions of deserving families during Ramadan through a corruption-free mechanism.
