TEHRAN: Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Larijani has issued a stark warning, declaring that Iran has fully prepared itself for a prolonged conflict and that its adversaries will come to regret their miscalculations.
In an official statement, Larijani asserted that — as has been the case throughout the past three centuries — Iran did not initiate this war. He emphasized that the country’s armed forces have solely acted in defense and have not participated in any offensive operations. Larijani vowed that Iran would defend itself and its 6,000-year-old civilization at any cost.
Diplomatic Corridors Buzzing Amid Escalation
Even as the conflict intensifies on the ground, international diplomatic activity has surged significantly. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held separate telephone conversations with his counterparts in Iran, Oman, and France, urging restraint and reaffirming Beijing’s support for a negotiated resolution.
Separately, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with the Emir of Qatar, in what is being viewed as part of broader consultations among regional and global powers seeking to contain the crisis.
The heightened engagement by both Beijing and Moscow signals that major world powers are working behind the scenes to prevent the conflict from spiraling into a wider regional conflagration, even as front-line hostilities show no signs of abating.
