LAHORE: Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh has said that strong law and order is fundamental for economic stability, investment growth, and the smooth functioning of business activities across the province.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Rao Abdul Kareem, Inspector General of the Punjab Police. LCCI Executive Committee Member Omer Sarfaraz was also present during the meeting.
The LCCI Senior Vice President congratulated Rao Abdul Kareem on assuming charge as the Inspector General of Punjab Police and extended best wishes for his new responsibilities. He said that the business community has high expectations from the new leadership of Punjab Police to ensure a safe and secure environment for trade, industry, and investment.
Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh said that peace and security are the backbone of economic development. Without a stable law and order situation, businesses face uncertainty, investors hesitate to invest, and economic activities slow down. He added that Lahore is the economic hub of Punjab, and any disturbance in the law and order situation directly affects trade, industry, and commercial activities.
He said that the business community plays a key role in strengthening the national economy and therefore it is very important to provide them with a secure environment where they can carry out their business activities without fear or disruption. He also stressed that effective coordination between law enforcement agencies and the business community can significantly improve the overall security environment.
During the meeting, matters related to the security of business centers, markets, and industrial areas also came under discussion. Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh highlighted that traders and industrialists often face security concerns including theft, street crime, and other issues which need timely attention and effective policing.
He emphasized that the Punjab Police has always played a vital role in maintaining peace and stability and expressed confidence that under the leadership of Rao Abdul Kareem, the police department will further enhance its efforts to ensure public safety and the protection of business communities.
Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh also invited the Inspector General Punjab to visit the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and interact with members of the business community. He said that such interactions would help identify key issues faced by traders and industrialists and would also strengthen cooperation between the police and the private sector.
Inspector General Punjab Rao Abdul Kareem thanked the LCCI delegation for their visit and appreciated the role of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in representing the business community. He said that the Punjab Police is committed to ensuring the safety of citizens, traders, and industrialists and will continue to take necessary steps to maintain law and order across the province.
He assured the LCCI representatives that the police department values the concerns of the business community and will work in close coordination with chambers of commerce to address security issues faced by traders and industrialists.
