Islamabad, Pakistan (March 19, 2026): Pakistan has categorically rejected a statement by US intelligence regarding its missile programme, asserting that the “real threat” in the region comes from India’s missile capabilities, not Pakistan’s defensive systems.
In a strong response, the Foreign Office spokesperson stated: “Pakistan’s defensive capabilities are not a threat to any other country. They are solely meant for the protection of our sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.”
The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan’s missile programme is entirely defensive, transparent, and necessary to maintain strategic balance in the region. He pointed out that India’s rapidly expanding missile arsenal and advanced strategic programmes are the actual source of instability in South Asia.
“Pakistan has always been a peace-loving nation,” the FO added, “but we possess full capability to respond to any aggression against our country.”
The remarks came in direct rebuttal to recent comments by US intelligence agencies expressing concerns over Pakistan’s missile developments.
This development underscores the ongoing strategic rivalry between Pakistan and India and Pakistan’s firm stance on maintaining a credible minimum deterrence for its national defence.
