TEHRAN / KUWAIT CITY, March 30, 2026 — Iran has firmly denied responsibility for the attack on a desalination plant in Kuwait, instead pointing the finger at Israel and accusing it of staging the strike as a false flag operation.
Iran’s military operational command, Khatam al-Anbiya, issued a statement asserting that Israel was behind the attack on the Kuwaiti water desalination facility. The statement claimed that Israel carried out the strike with the deliberate intention of framing Iran, describing the act as a reflection of “Israel’s brutal aggression and the depravity of the Zionist occupiers.”
The development comes after earlier reports confirmed that the desalination plant sustained severe damage in the attack, and that one Indian worker lost his life in the incident.
The accusation significantly raises tensions in the already volatile Gulf region, as competing narratives over responsibility for the strike continue to emerge. No official response from Israel has been issued at the time of this report.
The attack on critical water infrastructure in Kuwait has drawn widespread concern, given the Gulf state’s heavy dependence on desalination for its freshwater supply.
