In a swift display of law enforcement efficiency, Islamabad Police have arrested all suspects involved in the murder of businessman Amir Awan, who was killed during a robbery, within less than 24 hours of the incident.
Addressing a joint press conference alongside the Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry confirmed that the “Mansoor Khan Gang,” a criminal network based in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reportedly including Afghan nationals, was behind the brutal killing.
Chaudhry revealed that the suspects were apprehended at various locations between Karachi and Khyber, describing it as a nationwide operation rather than a routine local case. “This was a case at the national level,” he said.
The minister highlighted that serious crimes in Islamabad have dropped by 63 percent compared to the same period last year. He also announced plans to transform Islamabad into Pakistan’s first “Smart City,” going beyond the existing Safe City framework. Acknowledging past shortcomings — including the absence of a forensic laboratory and an incomplete surveillance infrastructure — he said all these issues are now being addressed simultaneously.
