Declare Potential Intervention as “Jihad” if Ground Invasion Occurs
Military units loyal to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov have declared they are prepared to deploy to Iran and fight alongside Iranian forces against the United States if Washington launches a ground invasion.
According to Iran’s state-run Press TV, the Akhmat Special Forces — Kadyrov’s personal units — have begun preparations for possible deployment. Spokespersons for the forces described the ongoing US-Israeli campaign against Iran as a “religious war” and a “battle between good and evil.” They framed any direct intervention as jihad, stating that Muslim fighters would fulfill their religious duty by taking to the battlefield.
Lieutenant General Apti Alaudinov, commander of the Akhmat forces, posted a video statement on Telegram offering to transfer weapons to Iran and personally deploy “even today” if the Russian leadership approves. These units, which form part of Russia’s National Guard, have previously fought in the Ukraine conflict.
No official confirmation has yet come from Kadyrov himself, the Kremlin, or the Russian military regarding any formal deployment decision. The statements appear to be signaling amid escalating US-Iran tensions rather than an immediate operational announcement.
The development comes as tensions in the Middle East remain high, with reports of continued US-Israeli operations against Iranian targets and Iranian warnings of strong resistance to any ground incursion.
Note: These reports originate primarily from Iranian state media and Chechen commanders’ channels. Independent verification is pending, as no large-scale movement of Chechen forces has been visually confirmed so far.
