Islamabad/Istanbu— The Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Türkiye, Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have issued a joint statement strongly condemning a controversial Israeli law passed by the Knesset that allows the imposition of the death penalty on Palestinian prisoners in the occupied West Bank.
The legislation, which applies particularly to Palestinians convicted in military courts of deadly acts, has been described by the ministers as a “dangerous escalation” due to its discriminatory nature against Palestinian detainees.
In the joint statement, the Foreign Ministers underscored that “this legislation constitutes a dangerous escalation, particularly given its discriminatory application against Palestinian prisoners, and stressed that such measures risk further exacerbating tensions and undermining regional stability.”
The ministers warned that the law could heighten tensions in the region and called for restraint from actions that inflame the situation on the ground. They also reiterated the urgent need for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestinian state.
The statement emphasized the importance of international accountability and urged the global community to take immediate and effective steps to prevent the implementation of such unilateral and illegal measures by the occupying power.
This joint condemnation comes amid ongoing concerns over Israeli policies in the occupied territories and reflects a unified stance by major Arab and Muslim nations on the Palestinian issue.b98a44
