ISLAMABAD —Report by Muhammad Saleem
Sohail Ashraf formally assumed charge as Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad on Monday, marking the beginning of a new administrative chapter for the federal capital.
Shortly after taking office, Ashraf held a comprehensive briefing session with CDA Board members and senior officials, during which key issues including institutional performance, administrative affairs, and the status of ongoing development projects were discussed in detail.
Officials briefed the new chairman on the CDA’s administrative structure, active urban schemes, infrastructure improvement initiatives, and the current progress of major projects underway across Islamabad.
Addressing the meeting, Ashraf issued clear directives, emphasising that all ongoing development projects must be completed within their stipulated deadlines to ensure timely delivery of civic amenities to residents of the federal capital. He stressed that transparency and efficiency in public service delivery would be non-negotiable priorities.
The CDA Chairman further announced that technology-driven reforms would be introduced to modernise the authority’s administrative operations and enhance the overall standard of services provided to citizens.
Ashraf’s appointment signals a renewed focus on accountability and urban development in Islamabad, as the authority oversees critical infrastructure, housing, and civic services across the capital territory.
