Peshawar:
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have embarked on a visit to flood-affected regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The two leaders arrived first in Swat, where they were received by Federal Minister Amir Muqam. Following their visit to Swat, they proceeded to Buner to assess the situation on the ground.
According to officials, the recent spell of heavy rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has claimed the lives of more than 350 people, with 228 fatalities reported from Buner alone. The visit by the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal is seen as an effort to review relief measures and extend solidarity with the victims.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) continues to dispatch relief supplies to flood-hit districts. Earlier today, separate consignments were sent to Bajaur and Mansehra, containing tents, blankets, generators, de-watering pumps, ration bags, and medicines.
NDMA stated that the relief goods will be handed over to the respective district administrations for onward distribution among flood survivors. The Authority, in collaboration with the armed forces and welfare organizations, is also sending additional aid to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
