Antalya — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, addressing the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, has said that Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s diplomatic efforts played a key role in halting the war in the region.
Erdogan said that the world is currently gripped by uncertainty and that conflicts across various regions are causing immense suffering to humanity. He noted that during Israeli strikes, large numbers of children, women and young people were being affected daily, adding that despite the ceasefire, attacks on Gaza continue and 754 Palestinians have been killed so far.
The Turkish President said that the situation in Gaza reflects serious questions about the purpose and function of the global order. He stressed that greater courage and boldness are needed in the current circumstances, and that Turkey will continue its efforts for peace in the region.
Erdogan urged that the ceasefire be seen as a genuine opportunity for lasting peace, and praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts in helping bring hostilities to a halt. He described the Antalya Diplomacy Forum as a platform where the future of humanity is seriously deliberated, while noting that Israeli attacks on Gaza continue despite the ceasefire agreement.
