Islamabad): Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani has announced that following the reduction in diesel prices, a decision regarding a cut in petrol prices will be made next Friday, keeping in view the prevailing global oil prices.
Speaking to the media, Kayani stated that the government is closely monitoring international petroleum prices and will pass on any relief to the public if petrol rates decline in the global market. He assured citizens that the government remains committed to providing maximum relief from inflationary pressures.
In a separate statement, the Minister referred to amendments made in Section 37A of last year’s budget, saying that these changes were introduced to reduce certain governmental powers and enhance transparency and accountability in financial matters.
The statement comes after the government recently announced a significant reduction in diesel prices, offering relief to the transport and agriculture sectors. Any further cut in petrol prices is expected to bring additional respite to consumers and the economy amid fluctuating global oil trends.
This development is being seen as part of the government’s efforts to align domestic fuel prices with international market realities while protecting the interests of the common man.
