LAHORE: Women are increasingly making their mark in the field of journalism by fully utilizing their talents, a development widely regarded as commendable, said Chairman Pakistan Media Writers Club, Iftikhar Khan.
He expressed these views while presiding over a ceremony titled “Successful Women,” organized by the Pakistan Media Writers Club in collaboration with the National Women Journalists Forum at a local hotel in Lahore.
The event was held in honour of National Women Journalists Forum (NWJF) President Farzana Chaudhry and Rabia Azmat, Member of the Governing Body of Lahore Press Club and Finance Secretary NWJF.
Speaking on the occasion, Farzana Chaudhry emphasized that women have consistently demonstrated their capabilities across professional fields, particularly in journalism.
“Women have proved that they are equal to men in capabilities,” she said, adding that greater encouragement and support would further strengthen women’s role in the media industry.
Chairman Iftikhar Khan highlighted the importance of recognizing women’s achievements, noting that such initiatives help boost confidence among female journalists and encourage them to pursue excellence alongside their male counterparts.
Among other attendees were senior journalist Fazal Hussain Awan (Nawa-e-Waqt), Asim Latif (Production Incharge, Daily City 42), Muhammad Shahzad (Voice of Germany), Shahid Hanif (Lahore Ring News), Tabish Butt (Anchor, Bol News), Iqra Mughal (Assignment Editor, Ab Tak News), and Nabila Akbar, President Women Wing of Pakistan Media Writers Club.
The event also received special support from Munza Samuel, Executive Member of Pakistan Media Writers Club, based in the United Kingdom.
Iftikhar Khan thanked all participants and noted that the event was unique as both the guests of honour and the organizers were women, reflecting growing female leadership in journalism.
